The Greek word, paraptōma, used in James 5.16 is also used in Matthew 6.14-15 & 18.35 where the KJV uses the English word trespasses .

Matthew 19:9 has always confused me and while attending your father’s Monday night class I delved deeply into this text. Item: is Jesus teaching something not found in the Law of Moses. Item: what is the penalty for fornication and adultery per the Law. Item: is Jesus making an exception or an exclusion? When viewing the context both immediate and remote, then marriage is a life commitment no exceptions but death.
